Lahore — 28 March 2026: Every year, millions of Muslims perform Hajj — wearing Ahram, circling the holy Kaaba, standing on the plain of Arafat and casting stones at Satan. Yet the Muslim nation continues to weaken. The question that demands honest reflection is: are we performing Hajj, or merely completing its outward rituals? This profound question forms the soul of The Spiritual Reality of Hajj, authored by Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen, Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah ul Aqdas.
A House Without Meeting Its Owner
The book opens with a powerful analogy — the identity and grandeur of a house is known through its owner. What then is the purpose of visiting the house of Allah without meeting Allah Himself? As the great Sufi Saint Hazrat Bayazid Bastami narrated: “When I went to visit Kaaba and looked upon it the first time I saw a house, when I looked the second time I saw the house and its Owner, when I looked the third time I only saw its Owner.”
This is the true purpose of Hajj — not merely to see the sacred sites, but to be blessed with Divine presence, observation and unveiling.
Two Types of Hajj
The book beautifully explains that Hajj has two dimensions. The Hajj of Shariah fulfills the outward obligations — wearing Ahram, performing Tawaf, staying at Arafat, sacrificing an animal and completing all prescribed rituals. This Hajj earns reward and redemption.
But the Hajj of Spirituality — Hajj-e-Tariqat — is the inward journey of the soul toward Allah. The Holy Prophet ﷺ himself told Hazrat Umar Farooq: “The heart of a man is in fact the holy Kaaba.” When the veils of doubt, illusion and everything other than Allah are removed from the heart, the theophany of Divine Essence is witnessed in the courtyard of the heart. This is the real Hajj — the Hajj of the Kaaba of the heart.
The Condition of Today’s Pilgrims
The book does not shy away from honest reflection. As the Holy Prophet ﷺ foretold: “There will come a time when the rich will perform Hajj for amusement, scholars for show off and the poor for begging.” More than fifty to sixty lac Muslims perform Hajj every year — yet hypocrisy prevails and hearts remain distant from Allah. The cause is the absence of Taqwa — the inward closeness to Allah that transforms every ritual into a living reality.
The Path to True Hajj
The gateway to the true inner Hajj is the purification of the heart through the zikr and contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat under the guidance of a perfect Murshid Kamil. As Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi reminded a returning pilgrim — true Hajj demands that at every station, the soul advances toward Allah, the nafs is sacrificed and the heart becomes the pure home of the Divine Essence.
Tehreek Dawat-e-Faqr invites all believers to discover this spiritual reality under the blessed guidance of Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen, Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah ul Aqdas at Masjid e Zahra, Village Rangeel Pur Sharif, Sundar Adda, Multan Road, Lahore.
