Lahore — 31 March 2026: Muslims around the world offer Salat five times daily, perform Hajj, fast in Ramadan and give Zakat. Yet the soul remains restless, the heart remains distant from Allah and the nation continues to decline. Why? Because the soul of worship has departed — and only the empty shell remains.
This is the central theme that echoes across the sacred teachings of Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen, Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah ul Aqdas — preserved in his blessed books on the spiritual realities of Salat, Hajj and the path of Faqr.
Worship Without the Heart is an Empty Shell
In The Spiritual Reality of Salat, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen teaches that the Holy Prophet ﷺ declared: “Salat is the Meraj of a Momin.” But this Meraj — this ascension to Allah — is only possible when Salat is offered with the complete Divine Presence of heart and soul. As the hadith plainly states: “No prayer is acceptable without the presence of heart and soul.” Allah does not need the bowing of bodies. He wants the submission of souls.
The same truth rings through The Spiritual Reality of Hajj. Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi once questioned a returning pilgrim with nine profound questions — did you abandon your selfish desires at Muzdalifah? Did you sacrifice your nafs at Mina? Did you witness any Divine observation at Arafat? The pilgrim answered no to every question. Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi said: “You have not yet performed Hajj.” The Holy Prophet ﷺ himself declared that the heart of a Momin is the true Kaaba — and real Hajj is performed when the veils of everything other than Allah are removed from this inner Kaaba.
The Disease That Blocks the Door
In Purification of Innerself in Sufism, Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen warns that arrogance, jealousy, pretence, negligence and greed are the diseases that hollow out our worship. A person may offer Salat, perform Hajj and fast throughout Ramadan — yet if these spiritual diseases occupy the heart, not a single act reaches Allah. The Quran itself warns: “So woe unto those devouts who are unaware of their Salat.” This warning is not for those who abandon worship — but for those who perform it without the soul.
The Only Cure: Faqr and the Perfect Guide
Allama Iqbal, as explored in Iqbal and Faqr, declared that the treasure Muslims have lost is Faqr — the path of Divine vision and union. He wrote: “Since the time Muslims lost Faqr, they were neither entrusted with worldly imperialism nor spiritual wealth.” The remedy for hollow worship, diseased hearts and spiritual decline is one — to find the Murshid Kamil Akmal and walk the path of Faqr through the zikr and contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat. Only then does Salat become Meraj, Hajj become the journey of the heart and every breath become a living worship.
Tehreek Dawat-e-Faqr invites all sincere seekers to this path of living worship under the guidance of Sultan-ul-Ashiqeen, Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah ul Aqdas at Masjid e Zahra, Village Rangeel Pur Sharif, Sundar Adda, Multan Road, Lahore.
